They are more effective at stopping STDs, STIs, and unwanted pregnancies than thoughts and prayers though.

It feels like you just wanna argue for arguing's sake.

The condom isn't perfect and shouldn't be treated as such. As good as it may be, it's not a panacea.

And when it comes to sexual experimentation, depending on a thin piece of plastic to protect you from everything you might want to try is quite unrealistic.

I think we are not fundamentally disagreeing. Condoms alone are not a protection against all the bad things that could occur while sexually experimenting.

My initial point was that if one is going to experiment, there are ways to mitigate risks. Condoms are one such measure, and they are ridiculously effective compared to the effort they require.

Being sexually uneducated will still make things risky, but if I'm faced with someone who has decided to fuck their way through Europe, you bet the very least I would tell them is to always have a condom with them.

The original and most basic point of a condom is to stop pregnancy. If it can’t even do that why would you feel confident in its ability to do anything else?

Yes, condoms do prevent STDs. Just like hard hats prevent head injuries. Thats a completely legitimate statement and not equivalent to "100% under no circumstance ever can you hurt your head when wearing a hard hat". If youre crushed by a 10t steel block, your head will be hurt. So would takeaway be "hard hats dont prevent head injuries"?

Should tell her she could do better. Like the response to one-sided non-monogamy like this should be to start finding his replacement and laugh when he comes crawling back after doing God knows what with other people. When it happened to me, I just ended the relationship and he bugged me forever after I moved out because no one at the club wanted to touch a 30 year old nerd with a drinking problem except prostitutes, who robbed his house after he passed out drunk.
