I'm probably not the first to point this out, and it's minor in comparison to everything else that administration is doing, but the wording is so insincere?

His heart goes out to all the Christians who loved Pope Francis, but he's not including himself in that or anyone else that wasn't Christian but still cared about him? A thoughts and prayers tweet would've been less awkward.

Yeah, fuck that guy. That's his underhanded dog whistle way of saying he doesn't give a fuck about anyway unless they're christian.

Though we know he doesn't give a fuck about anyone but he hasn't explicitly stated that publicly (yet).

Yeah, super awkward. If you were being specific to his followers, you’d say Catholics. If you’re being generic, you’d say his admirers or whatever. “Christians” is such a weird middle ground that includes some people who followed him religiously and some who didn’t but appreciated him anyway.

Yeah, I'm not one to catch these sorts of things and even I had to read that twice because the phrasing seemed weird

He's a fucking lizard man. He doesn't know how to express human emotions so anything like this is just a poor imitation of what he thinks he's supposed to do.

Who was it that also recently used that "my heart goes out to you" phrase again?

Oh right.

I'm sure it's all just a coincidence.

Y'know Columbo, I tried to help you from the beginning! And now you just keep turning up!

Interesting, completely unrelated but fun fact: the nazis hated Catholics and all Christians, they tried banning and corrupting it but failed. This is because they were worried that Christians had too much empathy.

I'm anything but a big fan of Jehova's witnesses, but the story surrounding August Dickmann's execution really made me appreciate their commitment to pacifism.

[–] Okokimup@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

To be fair, their commitment to pacifism is just another tool of control. The members are kept out of politics so they won't spend time or resources on serving anyone but the Governing Body^tm.

The history of the Confessing Church and Bonhoeffer's whole life's work say otherwise. The German church was one of the biggest channels of Nazi propaganda and support, especially among Lutherans.

That's why the whole Confessing Church movement was needed.

I love this show. The idea is rather repetitive so I can't binge watch it, but it's nice coming back to it from time to time.

Too bad the Pope met with him. If he hadn't, then the last thing he did could have been to snub Vance and then die. Like the biggest mic drop in history.

I know it's probably not him, but that guy definitely looks like one of the doctors on an old firefighter show my dad watches.

Actually, that’s Lieutenant Columbo of the LAPD.

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 1 points 10 months ago

No, it's the boy's grandfather from The Princess Bride.

You got me to look him up, which also made me look up the guy I'm thinking of. Two completely different people, but I still stand by the fact that in that picture he looks, to me, like Robert Fuller.

Edit: after looking at more images, he looks less like Robert Fuller to me.

Do yourself a favor and watch a couple Columbo episodes. You’ll think you recognize pretty much everyone in them.
