I'll start by saying the sauce is questionable. I don't think they're asking an objective question here.

That said, I've never really vibed with the Guardian's writing style. It always feels like I'm reading the opposite of Newscorp's propaganda - but it is still propaganda. I dislike being nudged to think a certain way, even if I'm being nudged in a direction I'd probably be inclined to go anyway. Actually, especially if it's in a direction I'd be inclined to go. Did I come up with this position on my own? Or am I being helped along by some publication with an agenda?

Just give me the bare facts and let me form my own opinions, thanks.

I do love that Guardian Australia exists, however. I love that it has thrown a spanner into the Newscorp near-monopoly on journalism in Australia. I want to see it succeed and stay.

I had a similar thought about this. It's particularly odd that they never acknowledge that the "Fairfax" they reference as the one-time rival is what merged into the same masthead that wrote this piece.

That said, I think these sorts of meta looks into the quality of biases of our news sources are so important, as long as we think critically about who's writing them and with what biases. It's kinda a shame that nobody ever does this about themselves, apart from the ABC. (And even the ABC, only in extremely limited forms.)

So that's whats happened, i'd noticed a number of the big names had disappeared from the podcasts.

I, for one am glad Paul Karp isn't doing the Australian Politics podcast anymore, he was terrible. I've been enjoying some of the other journalists presenting the Essential Media updates with peter Lewis much more. Theres plenty of talent among all these people to take over the podcast, they could even get a couple of them on the podcast as joint presenters, a social familiarity between people on a podcast is important and dual presenters can really help that. Rest is Politics UK is a great example where this has worked really well.

Still sad Murphy left, but i'd argue she was the only really influential loss. The space is now clear for some really interesting new people to fill the gaps.
