Passengers will also be able to upload their passports to their phone and travel through airports using their face for verification. Instead of manually checking in, which would let airlines know who intends to board their flights, airlines will instead be alerted when passengers arrive at the airport and their face is scanned.

I'm not installing a fucking app to use my plane tickets. I hate flying enough already.

I flew for work for years, when they treated you half decently.

Fuck that anymore, I'll drive. An elderly family member died last year - I drove 24 hours rather than fly.

So, the UN want people to buy another cheap budget-phone just so they can have a digital ID app? (Cuz aint no way I want more spyware and power-drain on my main)

Budget phones that are poorly made and will stop working in 2 years, and since battery replacement is not even worth it for a cheap phone, this means e-waste.

The UN supports e-waste? 🤔

Do they plan to take away manually checking in? I'm not going to install an app from the overlords, I'd rather act tech-dumb

I'm more concerned about its use of facial recognition.
