My partner just got slapped with 125 in overdraft fees in one day because a few pending charges went thru unexpectedly. Banks are disgusting

- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). But if you deposit money prior to that happening to cover the charges it doesn’t matter because they need to verify that amount before it’s yours. However the charges to you don’t need to be verified.
It’s even worse; banks here don’t process transaction in the order they were received; the process them from biggest to smallest.
So if you have less than enough funds in your account for a pending transaction, and you then deposit enough to fulfill that large transaction, it doesn’t matter since that large transaction goes through first regardless. Even if the deposit is made before the charge. Boom, overdraft fee.
Credit Unions! At least I hope in your country they exist, and are better than banks which, where I live, they most DEFINITELY are.
It WAS a credit union :/
A different credit union!
Washington State Employees Credit Union was doing this shit, too.
Don't think just because it's a Credit Union that they are above it.
I mean hell it wasn't until like 2013 that WSECU was even open to all Washington residents. Before that you had to be employed by the state to open an account. So they were happy to fuck over state workers and then later all citizens.
The next time my Republican Trump loving father asks for a loan to cover his overdraft I'm sending this article instead.
But remember guys, both sides! ^/s^
"Poor people get ALL the breaks! They've been ripping us off for years! It ends NOW!"
Ah Republicans, always fighting for the little guy.
so there is still hope you say
Hope does live on - with the people. That's where the power has always lived if we the people are willing to use it
Right now they're thinking the 5 million protesting last Saturday was a fluke. Let's show them it's not. Sat April 19th is the next day of nationwide protest
Protesting a biproduct of a corrupt system doesn't change the system. This is evidence that liberals don't want to dismantle the white supremacy that our system is founded on, but rework it into something they don't need to think about.
Haha no.
lol wow. Just… wow.
