Trump is a clown but this tweet isn't entirely accurate. Members of the Chinese government have been saying for weeks they are willing to meet and negotiate trade terms and it's been Trump that has been blowing them off until now. Maybe Trump wanted a more humbled, desperate, and less proud Chinese to beg to kiss Trumps ring, but the Chinese were incensed by the hostility and basically said, we'll talk with you but we'll also play hardball if that's how you want to play it *shrug.

yes. he even openly said he would not sit at the table to negotiate with the chinese, not even a couple of days ago?

i think the essence is still there though. trump looks like he wants to backtrack on the tariffs.
