The lack of tire wear is only part of the problem IMO, as with these cars it has become harder to follow a rival in its dirty air.
Don't forget that Suzuka was resurfaced. That reduced tire degradation as well. IIRC, last year we had ~48 overtakes compared to 19 this year.
This is the main reason IMO. Races shouldn't be won or lost in the pit.
I find tyre strategy to have the potential to be pretty interesting to be honest and don't mind races being won by the pitwall. It's just hard to get it to that window, especially with how sophisticated and smart teams are today. There used to be much more uncertainty and more guessing involved, these days it's so rare that teams end up at different conclusions. If the one-stop is faster, pretty much every team knows it.
The important info affecting the next few races:
Pirelli informed all 10 F1 teams on Wednesday that the Miami and Emilia Romagna GPs will have a tyre allocation one step softer than last season.
This follows confirmation that this yearโs Saudi Arabian GP will also be a step softer than last year, with all three of these races one-stop affairs in 2024.
This weekendโs Bahrain GP, with an abrasive Skahir surface a big player in decision making, will see the hardest range, C1, C2 and C3 in action.
As the years move forward F1 keeps getting less and less competitive.
Itโs like they are trying to ruin the sport.
Enshitification continues.
I don't understand your take: F1 is now closer together (from P1 to P20) as it has never been before. Yes you still see the similar guys at front, however every mistake is costly.
I think one of the reason of the bore fest of the last 2 races, was (besides the tyre stuff) how similar the cars have become and how hard it is to make a difference when you want to overtake someone.
Don't let the F1 simps get to you. It's a dying sport because they refuse to make it interesting.
Actually this season is gearing up to be quite competitive. 2024 was also more competitive than 2023.
