When I was 16 I worked at at Taco Bell. I watched an older fellow lose his God damned mind at the kid who made his burrito. He screamed at the kid for putting onions on his bean burrito. Screamed. Once he was done screaming he threw the oniony burrito across the counter at the kid. This was on a Sunday afternoon and dude was in his Sunday best.

From then on I vowed to never be that guy. This was in 1996 I made $4.25 an hour and I assume the kid making the burrito made close to the same.

Something that gives me comfort about that situation now is that dude is probably dead. So fuck him and his onions.

I've heard that's a thing - people spend the morning in church being told that they're better than everyone else and then they carry that attitude with them when they go out to eat after church. It takes them a few hours to sober up and remember how to human.

I understood this during university years, the dean's office was considered a torture chamber by students, but i always was nice to the supposedly dragon ladies working there and i somehow had my paperwork always done fast, no problem and with a smile

This is a major life lesson many never learn.

Suck up to the CEO for appearances sake, but be genuinely kind and grateful to the admins. It’s amazing how good relationships with the people who do the actual work make things easier.

I saw a guy doing this recently (not to a barista, but someone that worked with the public) and the only thing that kept me from losing my mind on him was knowing there was no way the worker wanted to deal with him AND me blowing up at him. He eventually just left, but it was maddening to witness.

Also, IME upper middle and upper class people are about 1000% more likely to do this than anyone else. This douche sounded like the frattiest frat bro to ever frat.

Totally agree I used to do retail in a snobby area, got treated worse there than anywhere else

FOR NO REASON!!?! 🔥 🔥 That "barista" 🫤 deliberately spelled the name of my 😍 daughter 🥰 Brettly wrong on the cup, and did not appreciate her 🦄 uniqueness AT ALL when I demanded them to correct their stupid mistake! The nerve of some people! 🤯

I feel like there's a certain demographic that would take pride in these shirts and just scream at everyone to get more...

They don't have to be new or good. Or recently washed.

If you're an asshole to a retail worker you should be forced to go into a Mad Max style death match
