I also love how in comics and movies billionaires use their wealth to build cars, motorcycles, jets, boats and equipment to fight crime and go after bad guys ... they also train in martial arts, take care of their body, physical enhancements in order to become bigger, stronger, faster.

But in real all we get is a bunch of aging billionaires who hide in obscurity in big mansions, no one ever knows what they do, and the only time we hear from them is when they announce that they've made more money ... they also associate themselves with fascists and authoritarians and don't show any empathy for anyone ... meanwhile, the world becomes more and more corrupt because no one is fighting crime.

What I'm learning about Trump is that my perceptions of "fuck you" money are warped. I figured anybody with that amount of money would be able to say "yes" and "no" to things that they agree with and all that. Tech bros bended the knee ahead of time in anticipation of this farce. However, at the current time it's absolutely insanity and they're keeping mum on the subject. They all have so "fuck you" money that they'll never run out of "fucks" to give but they won't change at all.

I guess maybe they're all inherently evil to begin with and they're getting exactly what they want so there's no reason to say "fuck you"

Seeing this exact sentiment is so depressing. So many otherwise intelligent people just believe billionaires' words despite their actions. Like, it shouldn't be surprising that the most egocentric, greediest, and sociopathic beings on the planet are "bending the knee" and "keeping mum" whenever it benefits them personally, and yet...

Oh don't get it twisted, irl billionaires also attempt physical enhancement, just through things like surgery and drugs (ozempic for example), and maybe some cheetos colored bronzer.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Don't use Ozempic (type 2 diabetes regimen) or Wegovy (weightloss) as a scapegoat for these guys. GLP1s are lifesaving, and do pretty much the same thing people use to have to get surgery to overcome. Plus the side effects aren't exactly "billionaire friendly." It physically limits the amount of things people are used to enjoy.

Instead billionaires typically stock up on amphetamines or cocaine. Those kill the appetite and put em in a good mood

Hence why Trump clearly hasnt used any of the above.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago

I won't deny that ozempic has its valid uses. It's just the first one that popped into my head as something "noticeably physically enhancing" that I've heard billionaires use. I'm not sure what the line is for drugs to be considered physically enhancing, but if we only cared about drugs in general, then there's a lot, like ketamine elon.

meanwhile, the world becomes more and more corrupt because no one is fighting crime.

While misleading the public into voting against their own interest because they are aware of rising crime rates even though the kind of crime they are scared of has been on the decline for decades.

Tbf poor people could be vigilantes too. Rich or poor, it’s probably not worth a long prison sentence to risk it.

Zuck doesn’t fight crime, but I thought he trained in some kind of martial art which is why he was gonna kick musk’s ass in the octagon until musk’s mom told them to stop.

I hate to admit I would have liked to see that.

The last two Batman movies kind of hit home at the incompetent billionaire.

The Dark Knight Rises has a billionaire give resources to an agent of chaos to try to get more power at a time when he's got a lot as is.

The Batman has the entire ruling class except Bruce Wayne being completely corrupt. Bruce Wayne, the only non-corrupt elite outside the new mayor, is incompetent.

pretty sure in the comics he already funds a bunch of those programs

its just that gotham is legitimately cursed by a demon

The comparison to Darth Vader hurts though...

[–] [email protected] 22 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, at least in the end there was still good in Anakin

[–] [email protected] 17 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Hey, don't be so quick to judge. Let's beat him almost to death and rip his face off first, there may be an eventual change of heart.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

These are these kind of fresh ideas I'd vote for!

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 days ago

Yes, for Darth Vader. How dare they sully his good name.

He actually liked his kids, and they didn't turn out to be total scumbags.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

A more apt comparison would be Master Blaster from Mad Max.

Hey, don't compare Joker to 47!

Joker HATES Nazis!

"I'm a homicidal maniac, not a traitorous bigot!"

[–] [email protected] 24 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Agent 47 doesn't deserve this

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 days ago

PLEASE god let me see a USSS agent with a barcode on his neck

[–] [email protected] 13 points 5 days ago (2 children)
[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

Heh, redskull bemoaning joker's misplaced patriotism is pretty good.

‘Wanna see this bullet engraved with deny, defend and depose disappear?’

And in their desperation, they turned to a man no one could fully understand.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 days ago

Do you feel in charge?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 5 days ago (1 children)

But in this case, the "joker" is all about the money, not sending a message.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

"Where's thee italian"

[–] [email protected] 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Isn't the joker smart though? Why insult him?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

People broadly have an unconscious belief that someone is "in charge" and we like to believe it's either a hero or villain depending on if you like/dislike what's happening around you.

The sad reality is that a comic villain at least would imply a thought-out plan, and in the real-world, people rarely do this. We usually accomplish great things as a species like building and maintaining cities, logistics and utilities and making computers because there's a lot of us all focused on doing the same thing. Not because there's some elite class of "leader" who knows how to create wealth or jobs from ideas and knows exactly what to do and when and what the results would be. That's just the image that robber-barons want to instill in you, but they're not planning beyond making off with the cartoonish bag of cash with a big dollar sign on it.

The world is dumber than we possibly know.
