as compared to getting it directly from those corporations? like what is the superior alternative that you're more sure about??

No. I hate it. But pushing funding into corporate media is going to exacerbate that issue is the problem.

Honestly man, I don’t actually have a good solution to this. It’s a shitty situation our modern media has backed itself into.

I’m a big enough man to acknowledge when I’m wrong. Lord knows it happens all the time. My frustration comes from these already tried solutions that aren’t going to solve the issue. Which is that the people you need to convince aren’t going to trust a government funded news source at this point. Not that privatized media is any better for actual factual journalism. You see what I’m saying? The only good journalism now is from books that are well cited, which are hard to actually produce and 99 percent of people don’t read. That’s why this frustrates me so much.

We’ve been through this before and it pushed our country into alternative foreign owned and backed media shit. The Rebel Media and such got a huge surge in traffic after Trudeau promised funding to the CBC. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills at this point, does nobody else remember this shit?
I don't remember that, no. But CBC needs funding regardless.
I have trouble believing increased funding for CBC was the majority force behind our current media landscape.
Well it was, I remember having to hear about it endlessly from all my construction friends at work constantly when it happened.
Well they sound like a petty bunch, but I still think it's the oligarchs of the continent that hold most of the blame.
Better than getting it directly from the corporations. We have more leverage over government. And we can vote in a different government, especially if we keep up the pressure for electoral reform.
Do the conservatives hate it? Yes? Then it's a good thing.
The liberals and conservatives in Canada might as well be the same party at this point for me. I hate them both so much.

You’re right. They are different. The conservatives will 100% cow to Trumps regime. And that is a big important difference. But the liberals have been fucking us just as hard as Harper did, so you can see why I might be less than stoked about supporting that party.

That is exactly like saying Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are the same. See how that worked out?
I mean that's a good way to look at it since they both serve capital first and foremost, but it's also excessively reductive. Liberals run on giving the workers breadcrumbs to gain their support while conservatives run on taking away those breadcrumbs, so while liberals and conservatives tend to agree on the bad stuff and disagree on the good stuff. Of course they might agree on something good every blue moon, but it's almost impossible for liberals to want a bad thing and conservatives to oppose it if you consider how those two groups fundamentally function.
TL;DR: If liberals want it and conservatives don't, it's almost guaranteed to be at least marginally good for you (CBC is here). If they agree on something it's either political suicide to oppose it (publicized healthcare is here) or bad for you (tax breaks for the rich are here); you'll have to exercise your judgement there.

It’s just exhausting and I’m tired of pretending the liberals aren’t also the enemy, to maybe skew some votes every four years for the lesser evil. It’s stupid. It’s bullshit. I’m done doing it. And I don’t really care if that makes people angry. Because that’s also stupid as fuck.
Oh then you're completely right; liberals are also the enemy—arguably the worse of the two—and the Left should be a lot more unapologetical about that fact.
