Phone is the mind-killer. Phone is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my TV.

If anyone grew up in the 80s and 90s, they know that the TV was built around the same addicting techniques the phone now is. The TV doesn't have the same pull anymore, because everyone goes to their phone for the gossip, news, etc.

Smartphone apps and social media have also embraced highly addictive dark patterns, which also got much more advanced and pervasive throughout the years.
