I'd love to think that, but this is America, where basic geography might as well be Egyptian hieroglyphics to most people.
10th grade history we didn't do history, we did maps and had to memorize all the countries. if we sang the song (without mumbling) we got bonus points.
Maybe they're thinking the current Iranian state succeeded Atlantis and they're placing the latter in the Atlantic instead of the Mediterranean, as Dr. Jones correctly did after reading the Hermocrates? ¯\(°_o)/¯
