Im thinking some sort of open carry "protectors of the vote" group needs to be formed.

Unfortunately, most of the polling places in my state (and probably many others) are conveniently located at schools, libraries, or other government buildings which have long since been declared Gun Free Zones.

You'd get arrested just for showing up. Otherwise you'd all have to mill around outside the property line which in most cases would be quite some distance away, where you can be safely ignored and/or not be able to see anything that may be going down inside anyway. And the "gun free zones" around schools specifically here extend for quite some distance away from the school property itself, IIRC several hundred yards.

I think a fair number of folks would be alright with local parents bringing their guns to their kid's school, if it keeps children from being snatched by masked men in vans.

Armed checkpoints might also work against ICE traffickers getting to the voting stations. Masked, wrong plates, or not part of the security force? Citizen's arrest.

Great point. Maybe the legal observer and whistle approach, coupled with a de-arresting strategy would work? Im just throwing ideas out there. We need to be thinking and acting now to be ready come Nov.

The vanguard who doesn't have to fear ICE can go vote in the morning then just start gathering next to wherever they're hanging out. By midday the concept of anyone being stopped by the voting station will look infeasible.

Also, wherever MAGA is not firmly in control, protect vote by mail and early voting. And make sure people send their votes early enough to avoid postal manipulation.

I'm wondering what people think this "de-arresting strategy" is supposed to look like, exactly.

If you think you're going to get anyone who's just been kidnapped out of the back of the black SUV, you're going to need to turn up with more guys than they've got at minimum, and very quickly.

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 4 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

That's exactly how it works. You don't let them get to the back of the SUV in the first place, but there are more of us than there are of them.

Not that I don't support the spirit of it or anything, but we literally estapo' hold down, disarm, and then summarily execute one of our brothers for having the audacity to try to help a woman they had thrown to the ground for no reason... If you think your attempts at 'un-arresting' anyone would be met with anything other than a hail of bullets courtesy of a group of Call of Duty cosplaying, white supremacist pussies who are simultaneously frothing at the mouth and jizzing their fucking pants at the thought of having an excuse to kill someone, then I've got some gorgeous coastal property in Montana I'd love to sell ya for super cheap

There may be more of us than there are of them, sure, but bullets are cheap
