I'm probably in some weird minority of people who's actually seen that movie but doesn't know what the more famous song is. (I've heard of it, but I don't know if I've ever actually heard it.)
The song is... fine. It was overplayed on the radio and has a horrible reputation among guitarists due to it being something anyone could learn to play in a couple of days. That's where the "puts capo on the third fret" meme comes from.
Pretty much an entire generation grew up on insufferable teenage boys whipping out a guitar at parties and playing Wonderwall to try to get girls.
