Is this really divisive on lemmy though? Comments and votes seem to have a clear trend (from my instance's perspective).
It's a really weird argument. Then again, I am the one in that guy's comments.
So yeah, I post anti trump posts in a community called "AntiTrumpAlliance".
I post anti AI posts in a community called "Fuck AI".
I post and tell Musk to go fuck himself in "Enough Musk Spam".
I post about black Twitter on "People Twitter". This one is because I'm part of the black community. Half my family is black, and the internet kind of ignores us. So for me, it's about representation of being a non-white person in America.
So for posting in those communities, like any other Lemmy user, I have a specific angle?
Comments and votes only represent the population of people who were compelled by interact and your view of the comments represents a selection of comments that are sorted by the majority's votes. Reddit-style comment sections tend to only lean one way, because the majority population pushes the majority opinions to the top (and the dissent to the bottom).
This meme is often used and demonstrates this (Survivorship Bias if you want to read on the topic)
That being said, if the argument is all one-sided then we have a comment section full of people who were so incensed by the comment in the OP that they felt compelled to respond to (allegedly) a Greenlander. Then the comments, I'd hazard to guess include some creative writing/LLM comments, are full of people attacking the ignorance of the statement.
So, what inspired those feelings of outrage if nobody is taking the other side of the conversation? Who created the conflict that made people write pages of angry comments addressed at Greenlanders? It wasn't a Greenlander, it was the OP.
The OP who also seems to leave these same kinds of little conversational bombs in various communities.
Yes, but most comments and engagement here seem very reasonable? I see mostly compassion (maybe not the right, sorry not native english speaker) or USAn point of views. Or did I miss something?
Wait, let's step back. You think I'm that screenshot? That inwrote that post or created that comment?
I saw that post on the front page of Reddit. I then took a screenshot because I get it. I have been on other social media platforms apologizing for being an American, and that post resonated with me.
Yeah, real lucky that you had that happen 4 times today and all of them just happened to boosted with multiple hundred votes.
You must be the literal embodiment of the American Zeitgeist so in-tune with the most outrageous events happening in our society that your takes are the only ones that resonate.
Or, you have a bot farm pushing your propaganda and you just happened to be the best English speaker on shift.
