Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement there was "no basis" for an investigation. The statement comes as new polling shows over half of Americans say the shooting was unjustified.

Justice Department officials said on Jan. 13 there is "no basis" for an investigation into the killing of Renee Nicole Good, the mother of three whose fatal shooting by an immigration enforcement agent sparked protests across the country.

"There is currently no basis for a criminal civil rights investigation," Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement referring to Good.

The 37-year-old was fatally shot on Jan. 7 in Minneapolis, Minnesota by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross, when she moved her car forward near the ICE agent. Her death has inspired widespread protests against the Trump administration’s militarized use of the Department of Homeland Security.

Yeah...

But that's been true for a long time.

We tried convincing "moderates" that back when Biden was in office and we could fix shit.

But Biden wouldn't, and now that shit is bad for suburban white moms too, suddenly it's a brand new issue.

Like, great you finally realized it, but it would have been best if you didn't ignore everyone telling you that your entire life.

Because then you could have helped us fix shit before it was bad for you personally

At the very least, learn that lesson moving forward:

I love how a white mom being killed is "the final straw" that shows how there is no justice and not the last year of gestapo disappearing people for not being white enough.

It kinda makes you think how fucked is the country.

Rodney King was 35 years ago...

And if you keep going back further, shit keeps getting worse.

To be clear tho, the problem was the moderate wing controlling the party, and that's already been solved with the last DNC chair election. And if a nonbiased primary gets us a progressive, they get to name the DNC chair the next four years.

Shit was real bad during the great depression, but that's what it took to get "moderate" voters onboard with progress. It's why incremental improvement never works, once it's "good enough" for one person, they stop fighting for what others want, even tho it took those other people to get "good enough" for the people who abandon them.

It's one of the biggest reasons for our shitty cyclic history, people unwilling to finish the fight once personally appeased.

Buddy, Biden couldn't because Dems had no real power the entire administration. Let's not pretend republican obstructionism hasn't kneecapped every Democratic effort on the last twenty years, literally requiring a supermajority to pass any meaningful legislation.

Really?

50/50 senate and a house majority for two years....

That wasn't enough for the guy who campaigned as the "Senate whisperer" who could get Republicans on board for compromise long before we dreamed of a 50/50 split?

Are you telling me that asking Biden to get something thru a 50/50 Senate was impossible?

Then why the fuck did he lie so much about what he could do, and why aren't you upset with him?

Like, logically you're still saying it's his fault.

Also, somebody should mention the fact that 50 votes in the Senate plus a VP tiebreaker vote was all that was needed to just throw out the filibuster

Amazing how people who accuse progressives of not knowing how stuff works or whatever always forget that little detail

The sad part is, Ive explained it to them before.

I didn't recognize them at first, but I blocked them at least once under that same user name from a different instance.

Like, they were just following me around calling me a commie for a while:

https://lemmy.world/modlog?page=1&actionType=All&userId=14783121

Looks like when they got banned from lemmy.ml, they suddenly wanted to make a new account for unrelated reasons.

It always starts out semi-rational, but when you respond rationally and calmly they immediately start making maga level insults. It's probably why they have to keep making so many accounts.
