It’s lose-lose but it’s painfully obvious one loss is worse than the other.
Too many people let perfect be the enemy of good, and that’s why they keep making it worse.
Yup. Lose big fast or lose big slow. It's politics, baby, you'll never win, that's for rich people only.
Slow. Slow has always been the better choice.
Oh I’m going to delete all the rest of these comments because they’re just getting petty downvoted!
Yup. And the DNC will take advantage of that fear to put forth candidates who will maintain the new status quo and fix nothing. The RNC will capitalize on the voter apathy and disconnect the DNC manufacturers and push the country further right.
Repeat ad nauseum. There's no solving this via elections, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't participate in it.
No, they weren't perfect. Far from it. They were terrible choices put forth by one of the most powerful political machines on this planet, chosen to be just palatable enough to try and eek out a win from a further and further disconnected and disenfranchised populace. The DNC gambled and lost.
Skirting the primaries and forcing Kamala Harris onto voters was a massive folly that bypassed the people's right to play a part in picking the candidate.
Are they preferable? Sure. I'd rather you attack me with a hack saw than a chain saw.
It's hard to completely blame the nonvoters, though. They're just doing what they were taught in civics classes, voting for the candidates that best represented their interests. There weren't any candidates they believed would actually address their issues. And there weren't. And there won't be. Americans were taught to participate in democracy in good faith but unfortunately only the electorate plays that way, the politicians and parties do not.
At some point, the onus must fall on the DNC to actually do their job and pick likable candidates and not just the voters to just fall in line with whoever the party says they will vote for. What's wanted isn't a mystery. It isn't hidden. The DNC elects to avoid trying to actually help Americans and instead continues to cater to the wealthy just as the RNC does. But with a little different flavor.
Honey, the media amplified what people had been saying for years. Biden was too old, incapable and a truly terrible candidate. That had echoed during his primary and during his entire presidency where his administration did very little to improve things for Americans and less to prevent the rise of fascism. This country has previously weaponized its various departments, overtly and covertly, against left wing activists and politicians and routinely does fuck all against the right.
The DNC isn't blameless here. Yes, people should vote against fascism, but also the opposition to fascism has a duty to select people who actively oppose fascism, not some pig and a doting old fool who didn't recognize that politics have changed since the 80's.
The DNC is the party of moderate neoliberal policy and stands for the entrenchment of capital consolidation. It's no wonder that doesn't get people off their asses and to the polls. It does nothing for them and arguably just exacerbates the conditions that set demagogues like Trump up for victory.
Newsom will do the same. He'll probably win because of how American politics flip flop, he'll do nothing to change any fucking thing, then the DNC will cry woe and we can blame nonvoters again for when he inevitably loses to whatever new monster the RNC chooses.
Kicking the can down the road is not a solution. The Democrats keep running dog shit centrist candidates that alienate their base and are blown away when they keep loosing elections.
Oh I meant to block you the other day for the other stupid things you said!
You’re the one who is advocating for violence against the government while… not doing anything.
I'm ready once the crack downs hit my Midwest town. You on the other hand are happy to be civil while the government disappears everyone around tou
