Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1666 readers
96 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

Aaaaaaand I just got banned from NOT one, NOT two, NOT three, but four Lemmy.ml communities. Is this a sign I have to start studying and reading up on theory?

Also, I know some Lemmy.ml mods is gonna say that "you wouldn't get banned from these communities had you read your theory!" like they're teachers demanding students to eat their meat before they can have their pudding (because how can you have your pudding when you don't eat your meat?)

Now I support the idea of socialism (I'm more of a market socialist), and I'm NOT against the idea of actually existing socialist countries (ie: China, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos and the DPRK). That said, I think Lemmy.ml should be more open to different forms of socialism, as well as the Marxist Leninists who DOESN'T have to support Stalin (and his bureaucratic and polarizing practices while General Secretary of the CPSU) to support ML.

I am very bummed that I CAN'T respond in these communities - that said, I can subscribe to different versions of these communities that happened to be in different Lemmy instances (other than Lemmy.ml):

Someone should make another Lemmy support community here in this instance

Cowardly. They can't handle dissent, so they ban you for challenging their ideas. There's only one acceptable position there, and that's being a full-throated tankie who professes that authoritarian regimes and the atrocities they commit are A-OK as long as they're opposed to the West while doing so.

I'm NOT against AES countries. Does that make me a tankie by proxy?

Nope. You're only a tankie if you blindly support authoritarian regimes and refuse to acknowledge the atrocities they commit. As an example, denying the Tiananmen Square massacre, denying human rights abuses and horrid living conditions in North Korea, or supporting Russia in its invasion and attempted genocide of Ukraine and its people.

Are you more of a libertarian socialist or council communist?

[–] AzuranAurora@piefed.ca 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I don't know what either of those mean, I don't delve much into theory. I want billionaires and shareholders to not exist, for workers to run the businesses they work for instead of making shareholders rich off their labour, and for taxes to go towards education, healthcare and social benefits instead of military spending and excessive police funding. I wouldn't be sad if capitalism as a whole died, frankly. It's done enough damage.

Are you more of a social democrat?

[–] AzuranAurora@piefed.ca 1 points 5 hours ago

I guess you could say that? If it means that we aren't being slaves to an "upper class" for their benefit only while they fuck us all over, then yes.
