Missing some pretty basic elements: a north reference, a scale, and most importantly, a source for the data

Up is north. How is a scale possible on a digital image?
You can add a scale to a digital image by having a line on the image and labelling it with the distance that line represents on the map. You might have a line roughly the width of Cyprus and mark it 200 km, for example, and then no matter how big the image is for a given viewer they will always know how big 200 km is
However on this map it's definitely completely unnecessary, nobody is trying to figure out the size of Europe from this
