Horrible start to the week on the dinners front.

Sunday night cooked up a batch of Butter Chicken for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Didn't finish everything till gone 10pm; left the containers out to cool off for half an hour before putting them in the fridge; sat down on the couch, promptly forgot and left it all out overnight, room temp for at least 4-5 hours.

With three nights of meals wasted, had to cobble some steamed veg and mash together for Monday night's dinner and do the whole process again on Monday night, but put the food in the fridge this time!

Such a waste! So much extra time! I'm dumb and easily distracted!

Edit: so it'll be Butter Chicken tonight... hopefully. I'll update if I drop the container or some other bullshit happens.

doesn't seem like long enough time for it to spoil

My wife was a chef for a long time and said the rule is pretty much anything can survive 4 hours at room temp, beyond that is danger zone.

It was like 5 hours minimum, definitely not risking it with the kids, i desperately want to hold off the day they get gastro, et al.

We've just had a couple friends get gastro really bad, luckily their kid didn't get it, but it sounded like a hard week, with a ridiculous amount of washing trying to ensure they didn't pass it on to their little one.

I'd be so angry.

oh man, been there....

I used to never write notes or use kitchen timers (an analog clock in the kitchen is still a requirement for me, period)....but then I got older and had had more distractions so now I keep notes everywhere and a timer on hand (mostly for desserts at work) but when the ding goes off my brain wakes up like a sleeper agent spy.

Christmas is coming up, btw....a good enough reason to get yourself a stocking stuffer

Thats a good idea for an xmas stocking. In the meantime i'm gona apply this advice and set a timer on my phone as soon as i box up. I really don't want to have that happen again, not least because the dog missed out on his walk last night due to the cooking, and now he's looking like he might bite my leg off if he doesn't get a walk tonight! 😆
