Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

Yeah but that sniper was the famous raider Swargo Tulponian, there are 3 books in the expanded universe about him

[–] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 59 points 1 month ago (4 children)

I genuinely have no idea if you’re serious or trolling.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 39 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I took the risk and googled it. He's trolling.

You can swargo my balls.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

All relevant books were rendered noncanon when Disney bought the property, so it doesn't matter.

Who gives a fuck what Disney considers canon?

I mean, yeah, a lot of people do, but they shouldn't.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 6 points 1 month ago

Swargo is real to me

Who gives a fuck about who gives a fuck what Disney considers canon!

[–] slaacaa@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Everything before and after The Empire Strikes Back is non-canon

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 month ago

the entirety of cannon is the six minutes of a new hope starting at the 32 minute mark. everything else i refuse to acknowledge as relevant

That's what Disney did.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Sadly, it wasn't my decision.

I support your mission.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 month ago

the cannon is anything we the fans find compelling. everything else is only maintained by adherents of mousketeer orthodoxy

That describes the entire Star Wars Expanded Universe. Every character was critically important to the survival of the galaxy! Some strong books, some weak ones, and its ridiculous storylines all look phenomenal compared to the travesty of Disney canon, IMO

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

the name is far too normal for tusken raider

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

The Glup Shiddo cameo in the second book was squandered potential.

[–] CuriousRefugee@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

True, but I liked how they referenced Glup in the early Yuu'zhan Vong books by the asking about how he basically was the only reason Tattooine survived the Desolation! Nice nod to previous characters

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The Yuu'zhan Vong books were fucking great in comparison. They finally gave us some closure on how Swargo and Yuu'zhan made that black vase in Luke's home on Tattoine (present in the background when Obi-Wan gives Anakin's lightsaber to Luke). We'd have to wait three years for the Morp Pumboô quadrilogy of comics to see how the materials got stolen to make it in the first place, but it was worth it.

Seriously about to check Neural Viz for these names
