This season, South Park has drawn attention for repeatedly targeting President Donald Trump and his administration. In an interview with The New York Times, however, co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker clarified that this wasn’t intentional, but rather a byproduct of the times.

Oh sorry, they “just didn’t have time” for the first time in how many seasons? Hours before the episode. Totally believable.

It was right after the Kirk shooting.

They also cancelled all reruns of an episode where Cartman dressed up like Kirk, according to the Wikipedia article about the shooting.

The Pennlive article has this quote about what hapoened

"Apparently when you do everything at the last minute sometimes you don’t get it done,” an Instagram post said. “This one’s on us. We didn’t get it done in time."

Doesn't sound like being cowards to me. And if I recall correctly, this definitely wasn't the first time an episode was delayed. Don't know why you think that.
