This week is going fine so far, but last week I said goodbye to my kitty buddy, Ralph. He was 18. I've known him his whole life, and he's lived with me for most of it. (A friend of mine left him with me when she moved and couldn't take him with her.) This guy has been by my side through so many changes in life, always the sweetest of cuddle buddies. I still keep expecting him to hop up on my lap when I sit down.

losing a pet is so hard, doubly-so when they've been by your side for over a decade. I don't know if you've done anything to commemorate your buddy yet, but I highly recommend holding some kind of funeral or memorial if you haven't already. Invite all your friends that knew Ralph well, share some tea and fond memories about him. Hug your friends and cry together. It won't make you stop missing him, but it helps a lot more than you might think.
