Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
The rules are simple:
- The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author's website, for instance).
- The comic must be a complete story.
- If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
- You may post comics from others or your own.
- If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
- The comic can be in any language, but if it's not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post's 'body' field (note: you don't need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
- Politeness.
- AI-generated comics aren't allowed.
- Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.

SNL is nightmare material for this. There are some good bits in seasons 2-5, but seasons 6-11 are apparently awful. I've been attempting to watch the entire show, and I'm currently stuck halfway through season 6.
Are you not supposed to treat it like the NFL and just watch the highlight reels?
Nothing against the comedians on SNL but who's line is it anyway has a much higher hit rate.
You can watch SNL however you see fit. I also enjoy Whose Line is it Anyway, both can exist and be good. I like sketch comedy, and the fact that SNL is live really adds to it and makes it all the more impressive imo, though I am aware that it's popular to hate on it of course.
WLIIA has the advantage of editing out the sketches that don't land. SNL cannot. That's why i say that "the best of SNL" is a preferable watch. No hating.
I mean, I love SNL but I’d never in a million years spend time watching any of the previous seasons again. A large part of SNL isn’t just sketch comedy, but weekly news. So many of the skits need a serious amount of context that I don’t think you could ever get with a rewatch. You’d need to be googling every single line of dialogue.
Yeah, I don't expect to really enjoy it until I get to the SNL of my highschool years which *checks watch* is roughly season 35. I'll also note that I'm not sitting down and watching it through, I'm watching it while I do other things, because ADHD I guess.
I will say that, while a lot of it is political and news based, it's mainstream enough and often spelled out enough that I usually can pick it up either through context or because I've kinda heard of the event. There are also a lot of sketches that are largely not based on current news. I'd say I more or less understand most of what they're putting down, though I'm certainly missing more than I think, as it goes.
I mainly wanted to watch it all to learn about this history of the cast, as well as do a more serious watch of the era from my high school years when I was super casual about watching it and missed a lot, as well as the legendary eras from the ~10 years before I was watching at all. Slogging through the early season is just a side effect of that I guess. I've just made it to S07, it's a slow process haha.
Well good luck! Hope you find some gems in there!!!
