So...

  • let snap expire provoking riot
  • invoke insurrection act
  • cancel elections
  • rule in perpetuity

Do I have that right? Did I miss a step?

One wildcard would be the military deciding to step in. It's a long shot, but the senior brass seem pretty wedded to their oath to Constitution over president, if their reaction to that recent all-hands of generals and admirals is any indication.

I hope that's the case, but the resignation of senior military members is not encouraging to me.

You left out the last step.

You know to think the funniest thing about this is, they want to rule but they're destroying both what it is they want to rule over and the means that were used to concentrate the power in the first place. Without those two things, dominance is empty and power is without purpose.

I'm starting to suspect that their goal is not to rule, but to exterminate the working class.

That is thoroughly consistent with their behavior.
