Firstly, don't think I am loaded here this is an ideal list that I will chip away at over time - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xVL9kf

I am looking at getting a fractal desigm north xl second hand, I presume there is no danger in that other than standard non new concerns.

Are case models universal or will I need a specific motherboard and then specific cpu/gpu etc.?

My last 2 cards have been AMD. The only big loss you will see is with games that use raytracing. I saved some money and went mid to higher end AMD and love the card. It handles everything i throw at it, and if the game features raytracing, I either set to very low or turn it off. It doesn't really matter much to me. Seriously, everything else I have thrown at it runs incredible even at 4k for most games.
