President Trump abruptly cancelled a planned Thursday meeting at the White House with top congressional Democratic leaders, increasing the chances of a government shutdown on Oct. 1.

Shortly after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries claimed victory in a joint statement for securing the meeting on Tuesday morning, the president posted on his social media platform that he was calling it off. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La., departs a press conference at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday. Johnson has been working to rally House Republicans behind a stopgap funding bill to avert a government shutdown, while also navigating growing pressure to boost security for lawmakers in the wake of Charlie Kirk's killing. "After reviewing the details of the unserious and ridiculous demands being made by the Minority Radical Left Democrats in return for their Votes to keep our thriving Country open, I have decided that no meeting with their Congressional Leaders could possibly be productive," the president wrote.

Let me ask you all something. Look at the quote at the bottom. Do you think Trump wrote that? He can't string a sentence together, orally or in writing.

I wonder if the people on Truth Social take every post to be his own words. I'll get a reply saying of course they believe it because they're stupid. But about everyone of them is aware of his shortcomings, they're just fine with it or make excuses. "He's too busy to write every post!"

So with most presidents I don't assume everything they say is something they wrote themselves.

As an example let's look at Obama's two most recent tweets,

Michelle, @BChesky, and I launched the Voyager Scholarship at the @ObamaFoundation to provide the next generation of leaders with the tools they need to succeed and make an impact on their communities. Today we're thrilled to welcome the newest class of Obama-Chesky Voyagers.

He might have written that, or he might have just approved it. The important thing is that he is proud of his foundation and wants to highlight it.

Susan, I hope I look as good as you at 102!

Attached it then a video of Obama talking to a 102 year old woman. That sounds more like Obama might have written it. He even says something similar to it in the video. So it may be something he wrote or it may be someone paraphrasing what he said.

I say this because with Obama it's tricky to be sure when he wrote something or if someone else wrote something.

That isn't the case with Trump. It's night and day when he wrote something or an aid wrote something. When Trump posts "well wishes" you know that is 100% fake. He even doubles down because as soon as a reporter asks him a question he is his usual asshole self.

Which is to say I don't really care if Trump's aids write his statements. In fact it's probably better that a person who can string together a sentence writes it so the public can actually understand it. Not that that will solve everything, look at the receipt H1B disaster. They had to issue a tweet to clarify the actual signed order.

I might have a problem with it if Trump wasn't on TV every day giving his actual opinion, but he is.
