On the bright side, wasps are way less aggressive at night. They get some of their energy from the sun, which leaves them kinda sleepy at night.
My dad's old place used to get a ton of small wasp's nests all over the place, usually with only one guard hanging out nearby and who knows where the queen was hanging out and workers off working elsewhere. If I'd deal with them during the day, I'd usually have to run partway across the yard after knocking it down or spraying it to get the guard to fuck off. But during the night, it wouldn't even notice most of the time and when it did, it would harass me for a few seconds then give up.
Ymmv, I never did get stung while dealing with those so I might have pheromones that they don't like or something and bees/wasps generally leave me alone anyways while my ex would get stung randomly.
