General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I'm hearing everyone come out and condemn this thing which is apparently "hate speech" and how apparently terrible it was for the BBC to continue broadcasting it (I don't think they did anything wrong- they were broadcasting a real life event). I understand the upset at kneecap (like supporting Hezbollah and talking about killing MPs) but I don't know how chanting "Death to the IDF" is hate speech- it's not even necessarily calling for death to humans, could be directed towards wanting to disband the organisation.

I don't know why the media and politicians are making such a big deal over it. It feels like they are trying to tell us how awful it was that these people said this thing and that we should apparently be outraged. Or maybe it's just me. I think there are worse things going on in the world.... particularly within the geographical piece of land variously known as Israel/Palestine/Canaan....

Stay on topic brother, an army of a real country full of real people are doing the genocide. Not a religion. The reasons are irrelevant as there can be no justification for genocide.

Sorry, but bullshit

Evil people do evil shit, but most people aren't evil. If you want good people to commit evil deeds, you need religion

Take a look at just about all major evil events, religion was either the cause or was closely related to it or used as an excuse for the horrors

How many Israelis would be okay with mass child muder types genocides when you take away the "we are the chosen people from God" part?

Yep, them being jewish matters exactly 0. Even bringing it up is literally just an attempt to muddy the waters, and as such it's the simplest way to find out who supports genocide.

I'd say that it matters a whole lot as especially Jews ought to know better.

It also matter a lot because again it's a religion directly feeding or being used as an excuse, for genocide. That is basically the one thing religion is really good for, making people feel okay about horrible actions

Edit: rereading this, i think there's been a misunderstanding that I am too tired to fix right now
