According to the L.A. Police Department, the incident occurred at the end of the school day during pick up at the rear of the campus, when the driver of a green 2025 Rivian SUV reportedly struck a 15-year-old boy as he was walking in between vehicles.

The boy was pinned and possibly crushed between the Rivian and a smaller, white SUV, officials said. LAFD paramedics rushed him, along with his uninjured father who witnessed the terrible accident, to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

You can't trust any driver... system enables poor driving via infra design and lax enforcement of criminal law.

Exactly right in this situation.

LAPD Lt. Matthew Bielski said the department is acknowledging that the incident was a tragic accident and that no charges will be filed against anyone involved.

What about involuntary manslaughter? Vehicular manslaughter?

Make sure this person at least never drives again.

Check their phone records and see if they sent messages, or used data during this time.

That's infuriating. The driver is still 100% responsible for what happens as a result of their driving or vehicle!

And now anyone who kills a kid in a school zone can play the "my foot slipped" game and go home, while a family has the worst day of their life.

Complete unacceptable.

Yeah, having legal ways to murder kids is going to be a big deal for the right pretty soon, and it's always been a consequence reducer to do your crimes with a car.

as he was walking in between vehicles.

Not only is it a legal way to kill someone, but the media makes it always sound like the victim is at fault, "as he was walking in between vehicles."

Yeah, no shit. It's not like he could have avoided walking between vehicles if the entire area is flooded with vehicles. What about the other 5 who were injured? What did they do to get hit? /s
