Yeah, it's Canadians that liberated my hometown, we still have a kickass moose statue commemorating it.
Yeah the eastern front was brutal.
One thing that people don't really mention though is that the USSR figures include all the republics. Something like 20% of the USSR deaths in WW2 were Ukrainians.
The Eastern Front was brutal, to ignore it as a major part of the war spits on the graves of a truly staggering amount of dead soldiers.
