More specifically, he didn't want to allow the precedent of allowing the supreme Court to simply arbitrarily pick the president if the Republicans whined enough, which is what was happening.

All modern leftists are either inactive, or they're mostly just analyzing the politics, with some light protest that isn't really commited enough to win unless the fascists decide to just fold.
