Up to 1200w can be back-fed into the 120v sockets in normal homes. No net metering or other permission required, as long as it meets UL/NEC standards.

That headline was a roller-coaster for me... (The last few headlines I saw out of Utah read like they are trying to out-do Texas being the insane red state.)
