Looking at the Google Earth pictures, it looks like this isn't a prison but a death camp.

Maybe that's why they are fighting so hard to bring him back, because everyone would learn what they did.

Edit: if your didn't see the posts, search CECOT on Google maps. It also looks like there might be mass graves up north.

They sent them to jail, yet we don't know what they exactly did (all they told us they were in a vegetable gang), we don't know how long they supposed to be jailed and how would they finish serving their sentence. Most of those people aren't even from El Salvador, so where would they go after.

It looks like they are never meant to leave the place and the payment was one time, so it looks like he just outsourced the killing.

CECOT Prisoners are not intended to leave, ever, according to Bukele's justice minister. 156 violent people shoved into 100 square meter cells with no regard for gang affiliation. Steel bunks 3 levels high - no mats, no windows, just a toilet and wash basin shared among everyone in a cell. They're fed rice without utensils, and provided zero outdoor time or visitation.

Basically a steel and concrete pit built to make people wish they got the death penalty.

It looks like a cattle farm from the sky, except that cattle barns have plenty of windows and usually allow the cows some level of movement.

I assume you mean 100 square feet cells? 100 square meter cells sounds quite luxurious - unless that's the total area.

100 m^2^ cell with 156 people per cell = .6 m^2^ per person. In reality even less, as it doesn't account space for bunks.

They put a lot of people in the cells, not just 2 or 3. So they are quite large and still quite crowded.

search CECOT on Google maps

I've seen enough WWII movies to know what a stalag looks like.

It looks like there is PLENTY of room to expand.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago (2 children)

But why? Keeping each prisoner alive costs.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Sometimes they ask for one back.

Who? Normally this prison is for Salvadorans.

I don't think they expected that guy getting recognized. They called them foreign alien terrorists to make sure the reaction is negative.

More and more looks like what is really going on is that trump thinks to use this prison/death camp to get rid of his opposition and using foreign country is to skip the US Constitution.

Those people were sent to test the ground, he just looked for immigrants with tattoos so he could call them gang members.

One this worked the plan (and he admitted himself) was to send the "worst of the worst" US citizens there.

The problem is that now he is deciding who is "worst of the worst".

The reason he is doing this in stages is to get people to get used that sending people without trial to foreign prison is normal.

El Salvador is avery Catholic country, so they can't kill prisoners.

Bloodiest wars in world's history were religious wars.

I am Catholic myself and I know a lot of people that call themselves Christians and are for death penalty.

Also we don't even know the religion of current dictator/president, so I think that argument is moot.

There's a BIG fence around it and I'm certain that none of the "locals" are employed there.

I see what looks like tree farms, where are you seeing mass graves?
