AFAIK these numbers of double the average have been pretty common for the past half year.
Russian losses for the past year are bigger than for the first 2 years combined!

Regarding artillery Russia is running low on old Soviet stock, so they have used that for a while now, probably this old artillery is shorter range, making it easier for Ukraine to strike them.
