Police don't give a shit about the law, you are absolutely getting yourself into trouble doing something like this whether they have a law for it or not. Talk to a lawyer, maybe talk to several lawyers, before doing something like this.
I have to do SOMETHING. I just can’t figure out what, and I want to avoid legal trouble.
The best action is collective, work with your local community - maybe identify something that would really piss off the police but help the local community - you can't be arrested for helping fund a local Black Lives Matter group, or helping run a campaign to displace the local sheriff in an election, for helping getting better resources for public defenders or local probono lawyers who do criminal defense, and so on - get creative and local, and work with others to make a bigger impact. Try to keep it positive, to improve the situation for yourself and others.
