Is developer the same of deltachat? (lemmy.world)

seems that developer is the same, so why two app? which is the long term goals? is a one man project? ps: congrats for your great works! pps: using android 10 and forcing connection the permanent notification appear also on block screen and pretty annoying, is possible to disable it? Thanks

Hi, yes I am one of the maintainers of the official Delta Chat, ArcaneChat is the client I use myself, made to my taste, with my own opinionated decisions, also a lot of the features that are added to ArcaneChat are added to official DeltaChat eventually when the rest of the team is convinced it is a good idea or when we have the resources to add the feature to all platforms.

A recent example is: arcanechat.me server was the first server to completely enforce encryption without exceptions, there was some hesitation but now recently the official chatmail relay server deployment got this feature incorporated as well

So to answer your question about why there are two apps: because I can't force people to do whatever I want, so as it is good practice in open source, you fork

yes, thanks for your reply. did you have any advice for the annoying permanent notification on lock screen if forcing network notification on A10. Have you ever experience that?

The point of that foreground service is to have such permanent notification visible, that is the way Android designed it, they also allow to hide the notification, that is on the system side not something an app can do on its own since otherwise apps could secretly put hidden/invisible permanent notifications and be always running in background without you noticing

To hide it long-press the notification and options should appear or search on internet "how to hide permanent notification Android 10"

(Note: it is better to create posts focused on one topic/question than making several random questions in a single post, that way it is easier to digest and reply on-point and not to overlook some of the questions or feel overwhelmed, also more useful for readers that will more easily discover posts about the question they are looking for)
