Fun tidbit: The original quote is originally the exact opposite, that Alexander weeps when he finds out there are countless worlds in the universe, and he will never be able to conquer them. The well-known version in the OP comes from Hollywood's Die Hard butchering the original.

Or at least that's what 5 mins of googling got me, add salt as necessary.
