I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this were the case. The government agrees he shouldn't have been deported but they also refuse to attempt to get him back. Why? Maybe it's because they literally can't. If news spread that the government grabbed an innocent man off the street and sent him to die in a prison camp there might actually be riots.
