Trump is a trash garbage person and he's going to ruin us all. What have liberals done re: climate change, education, poverty?

Probably because that question is a common lead-in for the most tedious kind of misrepresented rhetoric. You can easily answer the question yourself, so people assume you're asking it in bad faith.
In good faith, I ask - what have liberal or democrat policies done to protect American institutions and regular people against oligarchy?
