My experience is not vast, but I’ve seen a lot more use of Power BI in companies than Tableau in recent years. I think Power BI is a frequent choice because of how mainstream it is. Most companies already have an existing license agreement with Microsoft for windows and office, so there’s a low barrier for entry if they need some general purpose analytics and reporting. This is also a vibe thing in part, as there’s a familiarity and comfort level already in place with M$, whereas Tableau can be a bit of an unknown for many.
I don’t think you’d regret either, but from a job search perspective I think you might fit with more companies with Power BI.
Good luck with your search!
Yeah, that's kinda the same sense I was getting when I was researching it all. There's definitely more familiarity with MS products, and I'm sure there's a cost difference there that companies would look into as well.
