Yeah that is pretty surprising. I know other systems are pretty quick to pull over and disengage if you don't respond to the nags. 7 minutes seems like a pretty long time.

Is it possible to “trick” it? like a tiny touch now and then to keep it from nagging while also not paying attention?

not defending anything. just wondering if thats perhaps possible, and a risk

Yes. Just poking the wheel generally will make them quiet. I’ve done it on Volvo. Toyota. Subaru and a Honda.
