Hexenbrett are odd ducks, mixing their punky black metal with elements of Italian Giallo horror movie scores of the 1970s. This pandemic EP is probably the release where they even visually foreground the latter influence.
The song Joie de mort is particularly non-black metal with its bongo beat and horror synths, but even elsewhere the duo crack out a trumpet to bring some unexpected mariachi flavour into the mix. It's wonky but completely on brand for these Germans, and I kind of love it!
