¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just because you got lucky or didn't notice doesn't mean it doesn't happen

Here, I brought receipts of this exact meme playing out of them protecting an "in crowd" member. A mere 24 hour timeout for calling people scum and "shitlibs" when anybody else even mentions "tankie" gets 14/30 day bans

Oh I'm sure it happens, assholes are everywhere.

IME, a lot more of them were giving me (or others) shit solely for being from .ml than were ever from .ml though. As I said, it literally drove me off of .ml because I got so tired of it. It's a great, socially acceptable way to adhom someone on Lemmy rather than engage with their argument though, I'll give you that.

Yea you got a point, and I for one generally don't consider someone to be a tankie just because they have a .ml user account.

But like you say, there are assholes everywhere and LW is like what triple the size of the next biggest instance? Bigger instance, more assholes. Just like with cities and crime, a big city always seems like "crime everywhere" but once you balance out the numbers it's actually not bad more often than not.

And the biggest problem isn't even just a rogue mod(s) they're not taking care of, it's the admins/devs who I always see in the modlog. It's clear that they're using their instance's influence as a tool to further their political stance.

It doesn't have to be this way, if the wider Lemmy-verse defeded from them as they did the rest of the Tankie Triad, stories like yours probably wouldn't happen

Fair points, I can't really argue!
