You don't think major thematic elements of The Orville match Star Trek? Really? You see nothing similar?
It's a surface similarity, they explore space in funny outfits and that's basically it.
The Orville is full of raunchy jokes, everyone is either an incompetent piece of shit, or just a piece of shit, morals are nonexistent, etc. That's the opposite of the idea of Star Trek.
So you're saying they are similar in some ways. Good. I totally agree. Yes, they are different in many ways, but I'm glad you abandoned the claim that they aren't similar.
But then anything is similar. Star wars is similar, even the lord of the rings has a group of various species collaborating to progress, it doesn't mean that it is alike.
