I know you're a lazy potato and all, but I hate seeing potato crimes. Get a bristle brush and scrub the dirt off. No need to peel the skin. Or switch from russet to yellow potatoes for a much thinner skin.

Your mashed potatoes will have freckles. Just mash thoroughly, or use an electric hand mixer and it's fine with red or yellow potatoes.
