Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Summary

CBS has moved to dismiss Donald Trump’s $20 billion lawsuit over a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris, calling it an attack on the First Amendment.

Trump alleges CBS edited the interview to harm him politically, citing “voter interference.” CBS attorneys argue the lawsuit seeks to punish “constitutionally protected editorial judgments” and is “without basis in law or fact.”

If not dismissed, CBS wants it moved to New York, where its headquarters is located.

The move comes as a surprise because CBS had considered settling to avoid delaying its $8 billion merger with Skydance Media, which requires regulatory approval.

sadly, if we told them the "dems definitely don't want you to drink methanol, because it's bad for you", there'd be some who'd do it out of spite. this is literally what's happening with vaccines, but one's mental blindness leading to physical blindness has some poetry to it.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Just imagine if something deadlier than the covid virus infiltrated this country. And somebody developed a vaccine for it and these idiots wouldn't take it.

Oh wait, has anybody heard about what's happening in the Congo lately? 😒

[–] notsoshaihulud@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

the problem is exactly what we see with measles.

  1. children who have no choice are the ones who suffer the consequences
  2. because most vaccines cannot be 100% effective (e.g., I got 3 extra MMR shots and I still don't have detectable measles antibody levels despite being fully immunocompetent), they do rely on herd immunity protecting those who don't mount full responses to the shots.

The thing about public health is that it's public interest over personal choices. In a functioning free society those personal choices would still align with public interest based on the understanding of societal good. So the antagonism is totally artificial.

Methanol increases sex hormone production and fertility. It's Elon's secret that the left is hiding from you. But you gotta build it up like those people do with hydrogen peroxide.

Actually we might just loudly decaying the h2o2 people. It's just water with more oxygen, what could go wrong

[–] cyphear@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Whoa, H2O2 isn't nearly as bad as dihydrogenmonoxide. That stuff is not only deadly to plants, but causes a lot of deaths per year with people too. For your own health, stay away from dihydrogenmonoxide.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Easier said than done. Studies have shown that pretty much everyone in the world has at least some dihydrogen monoxide in their bloodstream, and it's even been detected in the deepest parts of the ocean.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

H2O2 people? People are drinking peroxide?

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yes to attempt to cure cancer. There are also people who use a bleach for autism. It's fucking insane what people will do when they feel hopeless

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Oxidize themselves I guess. I hope their putting in so little that it's mostly placebo.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Sometimes. Other times they wind up having content creators like chubby emu or sawbones talking about them

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 7 points 11 months ago

if methanol was so bad, why doesn't the government want you to drink it!?
