AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I fucking HATE this idea. Let’s just encourage our fellow American to get even more used to hearing cracker voices everywhere. Sorry to Bother You was a prediction, not a satire.
I get so pissed when people are so dense they can’t take the effort to understand and listen to their fellow human. I find it so insanely rude to ask to speak to “someone who speaks English” or “an American”.
From my experiences in tech, the American agents aren’t any smarter. People just aren’t willing to just treat the person in the other end with respect.
I have some audio processing issues that genuinely make it quite difficult for me to understand certain accents, and I still hate this shit. It feels so gross and hegemonic. "You will sound like you're from Iowa or we'll make you sound that way."
