3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

MODERATORS

During their protest of Russell Vought’s confirmation, Senate Democrats sounded the alarm about Vought’s role in drafting Project 2025 and his support for vastly expanding the power of the president.

Vought, said Wisconsin senator Tammy Baldwin at 10:30 pm eastern time on Wednesday, “has openly called for the president to defy congress and take control of federal funding decisions that are constitutionally vested in the legislative branch.”

Schiff accused the Trump administration of unlawfully attempting to break down the separation of powers and said Vought would play a role in aiding that effort.

“This is an effort to try to consolidate power, all the power of this government, in the hands of Donald Trump and a few of his hand-picked very wealthy, billionaire friends,” said California Democrat Adam Schiff.

You say leftists stayed home because genocide, but look...

I am firmly on the left. Most of the people I choose to associate with are as well. All of us went to marches for Palestine when it was possible for us. We did what we could and...

All of us voted for Kamala Harris. We participated in electoral politics because we heard what people like you were saying about broad outcomes. I know it's not the same everywhere, but most leftist spaces that are very critical of the Democrats that I frequent shared this sentiment.

I know it's anecdotal, and other leftists can dunk on us for it, whatever, I don't care.

But I'm tired of seeing threads with comment after comment being specifically about blaming the left abstainers. It's fucking over! The election is over and pointing fingers blaming people isn't helping anyone. You want to feel good for being right? I know you're angry, I get it, but what is your point? You just want people to feel bad? Okay, they feel bad. The situation is shit and getting worse by the day. How is this building a unified resistance? How is this helping anyone but yourself?

FUD works by sowing apathy to discourage a behavior. In this scenario, all that criticism is used by bad actors to convince people who would vote democrat to just stay home or believe that voting doesn’t matter because bother sides are the same.

Leftists fuel the anti-democratic propaganda machines with their ‘criticism’. Those ‘criticisms’ have consequences and in the end, prevent leftists legislation from being passed.

Are there not legitimate criticisms to be had? Should we pretend that there are no problems with something just because an alternative is worse? That seems to be just as discouraging as any FUD for those who have valid critical observations.

It's about timing. Voicing the criticism as loudly as they were during the election, is the wrong time. During the general election it's too late. Candidates and policies are set. All the criticism does at that point is get the fence sitters to stay home. The day after the election is the time to start getting loud. Make them well aware that midterm results depend on them listening. Start working on primaries. Find people running for office that actually do support your ideals more closely and work on getting them nominated.

Long story short, the election is just damage control. To force change, you got to put in the work in between elections.

So I'm Canadian. Take what follows from a social democracy that has its issues but still mostly tries not to be fascist.

America needs to stop (IMMEDIATELY) the idea that the Dems will change to become the savior the US needs. Fuck 'em. Nothing will change unless Americans make the change themselves.

So why not support 3rd party candidates for Senate and Congress? It would be great to have an independent as POTUS, but they'd get stonewalled by everyone over everything without outside support.

Better to push to have independents voted into the Senate and Congress to get the ball rolling ... 'cause your 2 party system sucks.

Looks at that. The previous commentor said it's "all about timing" and "during the election isn't the time" and here we are post-election and they're still downvoting you and refusing to listen to reason just like they have at any given moment over the past 8 years. It's almost as if it has nothing to do with timing, much like Trump deportations have nothing to do with people having the correct documents.

They want the pro-corporate, diet-fascism and they don't care how many people they have to alienate or purge from the party to get it. The really weird aspect of this is that they already keep losing elections, yet think that the winning strategy is to push even more people away.

If you don’t have enough elected officials to do anything then criticism is pointless.

Criticism is for when there is no threat to your ability to get elected.

Criticism before an election is secured, gives the opposition talking points to use against you. It also gives voters a reason to feel apathetic and not vote.

This guarantees leftist legislation doesn’t get passed and leftists politicians don’t get elected.
