Boycott US

Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Political interference. Why is Brazil using us tech anyway? Lol

[–] Sunshine@piefed.ca 38 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Don’t blame the victims of American colonisation

[–] Artisian@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

... But signal was right there!

[–] bassad@jlai.lu 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Signal is still from US, isn't it?

[–] Artisian@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

This is true, though I'll note that signal is not oligarchic like meta. It's a nonprofit, and their ability to do nonsense like this is substantially reduced.

Man puts hand in alligators mouth. Stunned when hand is eaten.

[–] Cellery@quokk.au -2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh good gravy. At a certain point the victim gets to be blamed for their own problems for the continued support of American tech. This is like trying to excuse the American people for the American government. They voted. They didn’t behead. Tough tits.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 days ago (3 children)

No. Victim blaming is actually bad every time.

[–] Hanrahan@lemmy.world -3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

so the drunk driver should be forgiven when he crashes ?

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

The drunk driver is not a victim. Whatever they crash into is the victim.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip -2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If someone is driving drunk and runs into a tree, it's their fault. I don't care if they're the victim. They made shitty choices, and choices that endanger others at that.

No, victim blaming isn't bad every time.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 0 points 3 days ago (2 children)

A drunk driver hitting a tree is not a victim. The tree would be the victim in this case.

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And people continuing tobenabke America and their oligarchs are not victims and american citizens are not victims.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

I don’t think that’s true.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You're a victim to your own actions, like the person above was saying.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip -2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Only no because it defeats the argument you were trying to make. In reality, yes.

[–] boonhet@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Isn't most of the 3rd world on WhatsApp?

You use it because the people you want to talk to are on it. Network effect

[–] JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Most of the first world too, except like China.

The EU runs on WhatsApp except in some places like sweden where it runs on fucking Facebook messenger apparently 😂

[–] boonhet@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

Ah round here it's messenger and Telegram, didn't WhatsApp was so popular in the rest of the EU since everyone was already on Facebook like almost 2 decades ago so why even bother with WhatsApp

Choices choices. We all have many choices.

You seem nice.
